Our organic olive groves reduce CO2 emissions

Concern for environment, preservation of resources and development of a sustainable activity has forced us to investigate technical aspects of organic olive groves and production of organic olive oil.

Reutilisation of mill's by-products has led us to work in composting processes to get organic matter back to olive groves and thus improve agricultural soil, basic in Organic Farming. Likewise, use of vegetative covers contributes to this improvement.

Use of renewable energy has always been key for us and that is why we have searched the market for a supplier capable of ensuring a 100% supply of these types of energy (GREEN ENERGIES). Likewise, the installation of solar panels at the roof of our warehouses and in the olive groves to irrigate plantations have become a priority in recent years.

Production process in our facilities is also certified under ISO 14001 standard that guarantees maximum respect for the environment.

As a consequence of our concern, in 2009 we developed a carbon footprint calculation protocol called “CO2 Verified”, pioneer in Spain for food products. The logical evolution of the market has subsequently led us to certificate our EVOO under E.P.D. protocol (Environmental Product Declaration). , worldwide recognized and with a wider environmental scope.

Most interesting data obtained, and that consumers can mainly appreciate, is the following:

“WE REMOVE FROM THE ATMOSPHERE ALMOST 10 KG OF CO2 FOR 1 LITER OF ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL “

The installation of new solar panels for self-consumption in 2020 will contribute to further reducing our carbon footprint in the future. In addition, this installation allows us to have an electric vehicle charging point for our employees and customers.

All this trajectory has led us to be considered a “Business Example” at the COP 25 Climate Summit in Madrid.
